John Crewe is a full time artist based in Darlington. Largely self-taught, drawing inspiration from the best of modern art and the Old Masters; the rugged beauty of the north-eastern coastline as well as the spacious, solid tranquillity of the Yorkshire and Cumbrian dales. These influences are combined in a unique contemporary style.
Landscapes & seascapes represent only one facet of his talent. In his powerful portraits & life studies, he captures the infinite subtleties of light as it falls on the planes of the body or face.
