Become A Volunteer

Volunteering with us could be a great experience for you

It’s a really rewarding experience knowing that you are providing companionship to someone who feels very isolated.

  • Making a big difference with a small amount of your time.
  • Meeting great people who have had interesting lives and have fascinating stories to tell.
  • Making new friends and developing new skills.
  • Being part of your local community by supporting the elderly in Darlington.

Decide how you want to volunteer and complete an application form and we’ll let you know what’s next.

Volunteer Visitors

As a visitor you need to be a good listener, be patient, and have a caring nature as well as a sense of humour. We visit our “Friends” in their own homes as well as in local care homes. Our visitors bring the joy of companionship to whoever needs it

Volunteer Drivers

Some of our “Friends” enjoy coming out on monthly outings and to social events. Volunteer drivers transport individuals by using their own cars. Where possible, many of our drivers attend the outing and stay and chat to the people they have brought.

Other Roles

Becoming a visitor or driver aren’t the only ways to volunteer. There are lots of ways in which you can contribute, including volunteering your professional skills, helping out at events, putting up posters, fundraising, recruiting, and raising awareness.
