About the appeal

Darlington Town Mission is working with Donna Roberts from Sew Happy To Help in Darlington.

Julia Bean, one of our Trustees heard about Donna Roberts from a contact at the Sewing Room in Darlington library. Julia learnt that Donna goes out into the community teaching volunteers how to make different items with donated fabric for charities.

Julia got in touch with Donna and asked if she would like some fabric remnants from her own duvet business, The Big Little Duvet Company that is based in Hurworth. Donna was over the moon. Julia told her about Darlington Town Mission and the work that we do in the elderly community.

A project was hatched and now, together we are making wheat bags to help with the relief of aches and pains. 18 wheat bags have been donated to the “Friends” of Darlington Town Mission and other people in Darlington who need them.

We are saving on landfill too.

It’s a win-win for all!
