I was born at the old Greenbank Maternity Hospital, my family all being from Darlington. As a youngster we moved often and only visited Darlington at Christmas and on special occasions to see my grandparents. I studied at Bradford college and a lot of my working career was spent at Bradford University and later at Leeds University, in administration.

 

I came back to Darlington in June 2022. I have always felt at home here, love the town. When I retired I set about meeting people and making friends. I joined Cockerton Methodist Church and became secretary for the Darlington Area Churches Youth Ministry.  I have now joined Darlington Town Mission as Secretary & Trustee.

 

My faith is very important in my life, and I am pleased to be working alongside two charities with a Christian ethos. Life is busy as I also volunteer at St Mary’s Food Bank in Cockerton and at The Well church on North Road once a week.

 

I do find time to do some walking most weeks and particularly enjoy the countryside where I find peace.
