Julia Bean
Julia Bean – Trustee
I am Sales Director for The National Leaflet Company with over 25 years of experience in media communications and marketing. My current work involves advising public sector clients on the direct marketing of literature to residents and businesses.
I was born in the North East. I returned from seventeen years of working in London to Darlington in 2006 when both my parents became ill. My mother died of Alzheimers in 2006. During her time in residential care I learnt to understand her and communicate in a different way as she was robbed of her ability to speak.
I had the privilege of caring for my father during the last four years of his life. He was a man who loved socialising, singing and fishing. Without the support of his family and friends I realised how lonely and totally isolated he would have become.
From my personal experience I decided to work with a local charity that focussed on supporting the elderly.
I became a Trustee of Darlington Town Mission nine years ago. I’m extremely passionate about the work we do. I enjoy supporting “Our Friends” by fund raising and managing the marketing communications.
I live in Hurworth with my partner. I enjoy tennis, both playing and watching, learning Spanish and love to travel.
