Jeroen Hoogland

Originally from the Netherlands, I have lived in the North East of England for over twenty years. After completing my degree in theology I worked in several pastoral and retreat settings.

When I arrived in Darlington and had a look at volunteering opportunities, I became aware of the work of the Darlington Town Mission. I joined in 2023 as a volunteer and have since then dedicated time to visiting Friends at home and taking them to outings.

When the opportunity arose to cover the role of Assistant Missioner during the coming year I welcomed this with open arms. I am glad to be able to be more involved and contribute to the important work of the charity in supporting older members of our community and alleviating loneliness and isolation.

I am a parishioner of St. Teresa’s parish in Darlington and play the organ there and in other churches.

I am married to Emma and we have been adopted by a lovely cat called Mia.
