Dermot has been a Trustee of Darlington Town Mission for nearly two years.  Within the charity he has taken on the role of Secretary to the Executive Committee. 

Originally from County Cork, his connection with the North East of England goes back to 1942, when his mother emigrated to England to train as a registered general nurse at Barnsley St Helen’s hospital. 

Dermot has practised as a solicitor in Darlington for many years and currently acts as Legal Director of First Alliance Housing, a social housing company.
